First Picket Line of SAG AFTRA Video Game Performers

Hollywood’s video game performers went on strike last week after negotiations with game industry giants came to a halt over artificial intelligence. The agreement covers more than 2,500 “off-camera voiceover performers, stunt performers, stunt coordinators, singers, dancers, puppeteers, and background performers.

SAG AFTRA says unregulated Artificial intelligence in video gaming poses an even greater danger to performers because of the ease to which content can be cheaply reproduced using AI technologies.

The union announced last night (Monday) video game performers will stage it’s first picket line against Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank on Thursday.

Many KCRW staff are members of SAG-AFTRA, but we are under a separate contract from the agreement at issue between actors and videogame makers.
